How to use our fabrics

When thinking of your room, create a sample board using the colours and patterns you love. You don’t want to have all the samples the same size. You should instead give yourself some idea of the proportion and application of each fabric, paint or wallpaper that will be used in the room.

Remember to look at the fabric gathered, as the fabric will not be seen flat. You can look at different headings depending on your style of interior. We have included some samples to choose from.

Blinds

Blinds

These can be Roman or Roller blinds. For a Roller blind the fabrics can be stiffened and made up. With Roman blinds they can be made up in the one fabric or with a contrasting border around it.

Upholstery

Upholstery

Choose hard wearing fabrics, called upholstery cloths, for the main areas in your home. It can help to put the sample cloth onto the piece of furniture to visualise it.

Bedspreads and Bedthrows

This can be a good way to bring in another pattern or contrasting colour to lift the room. You could try a contrasting fabric on the back and add a wadding inside.

Cushions

Cushions

This is a great way to change a room or visually break up the expanse of a sofa or bed that might otherwise dominate a room. Cushions are great used as an accent or contrast. There are many different shapes and styles of trimmings to consider. Although a simple 46cm square cushion is often the best if you are using a patterned fabric.
